Areas of Expertise

Prior to launching Global Ocean Visions, Keener spent 18 years with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) Office of Ocean Exploration and Research directing its Education Program and on Detail to the NOAA Research Office of Ocean Acidification and the NOAA Research Office of International Activities. She has served on national and international committees and advisory boards focused on building ocean capacities across multiple sectors, and has represented the United States in formal delegations, Advisory Groups and Working Groups. She has participated in UN IOC-UNESCO initiatives to build capacity for sustainable development and ocean literacy.
